Credit Union Difference

Wellspring Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. This means when you become a member of the credit union, you become a shareholder and, therefore, a part owner of the credit union. This is unique and refreshing in a financial landscape crowded by faceless megabanks. We are pleased to serve our members on a personal level. We return the earnings of the credit union back to you as a member in the form of lower interest rates on loans and competitive dividends on savings. 

Our governing Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who are active members of the credit union. They are directly elected by the members, with each member equally having one vote. 

Membership

Membership at Wellspring Credit Union is open to individuals and their immediate families, who live, work, worship, or attend school in Orange, Newton, Jefferson, and Hardin Counties in Texas. Learn more about eligibility and the benefits of membership.

Our History

We love to share our history with people because we believe it is our history that has made us strong. Wellspring Credit Union was chartered in 1958 as Orange Firestone Employees Federal Credit Union when the hardworking men and women of the Firestone Polymers plant in Orange, TX, pooled together $26,000. 

We continued to grow for over 40 years when in 1999, the credit union received its charter to become a community-based membership. With the new charter, the name changed to Firestone Community Federal Credit Union, and our membership expanded to serving 2 surrounding counties in Texas.

In an effort to send a stronger message of our passion to provide our members with the ultimate financial experience, we changed our name to Wellspring Federal Credit Union in August 2014. Wellspring, defined as “an abundant source,” describes our personality as a unique resource for our members in meeting their many financial needs.

Today, we remain a strong, member-owned financial institution. We are dedicated to helping our members achieve their financial goals by offering quality financial products and services at competitive rates.
